Columbus rewards a base and spokes. The centre of the city is small and flat enough to walk, and the three neighbourhoods you actually want — downtown, German Village and the Short North — sit in a straight two-mile line along High Street. Days 1, 2 and 3 barely need a car.
What's outside that line is worth the drive but scattered: the zoo is 17 miles northwest, the conservatory 3 miles east, Hocking Hills an hour southeast. So this itinerary front-loads the walkable core, spends one full day in the car, and puts the last day on the road to the airport.

Every commute time here is an estimate, not a live routing result. They were written from knowledge of the city's geography and assume off-peak driving, normal traffic and a car you've already parked. Rush hour on I-270, SR-315 or I-71 will add materially to the day-4 legs, and a home football Saturday will change everything within two miles of campus.
The same caution applies to opening hours, admission prices, seasonal programming and the budget figures: they're approximations meant for planning the shape of a trip, and they drift. Check the venue before you build a day around it. Restaurants close, museums change their free evenings, and the Clippers only play half the year.
